Chicken

The house is smelling pretty good right now with the savory scent of baking Honey Mustard Pretzels. I’m trying out this recipe because we were unsuccessful in finding honey mustard pretzels in the stores we ventured into this week. I’m not complaining; the food items we deem essential were in stock. The pretzels were on the list because it’s been a while since I served Honey Mustard Chicken Tenders to my guys.

I found a 3-ingredient recipe for the chicken tenders on the Hip2Save website, and it has become a favorite, maybe THE favorite way to eat chicken at our house. The three ingredients are boneless, skinless chicken breast pieces, honey mustard dressing, and  honey mustard pretzels. I’ve made them with just those three things, but sometimes I’ve had to mix up some honey mustard dressing (an additional 3 ingredients) and today I’m turning honey pretzels into honey mustard pretzels, nearly doubling the number of ingredients.  The recipe for the pretzels came from Don’t Sweat The Recipe. I had to modify the seasoning slightly and only had pretzels for half the recipe, but expect good results and think I’ll have enough for two batches of the chicken tenders.

The pretzels just came out of the oven, but, because I have the taste of chocolate in my mouth, I won’t be trying one right away.

Honey Wheat pretzels coated with a butter, honey, Dijon mustard and spices mix going into a 250 degree oven for 1 hour.

I stirred every 15 minutes and took out these Honey Mustard Pretzels to be ground in the food processor into chicken tender coating.

When I make the Honey Mustard Chicken Tenders this weekend, I will marinade the chicken in bottled dressing. My homemade dressing is equal parts mustard, honey, vinegar, and canola oil. For one pound of chicken, I use 1/8 cup of each dressing ingredient.

I’m including a printable version of  the Honey Mustard Pretzel Chicken Tenders as it appears in Mom’s Recipes for Kyle here and on my Printables Page. If you need to bake the pretzels, click on the above link for Don’t Sweat The Recipe.

Now, to go try a pretzel.

Putting a tasty meal on the table for my family makes me happy.
