Pray 18

Good Sunday afternoon, Friends. This week, I’m sharing a prayer that I wrote for my on-line Bible study. Since June 1, I’ve been LIVE on Facebook at 1 p.m. Monday-Friday, reading from Scripture and from books authored by Bible scholars. Currently, I’m in the middle of a book called WISDOM FOR LIFE, written by James Robison of LIFE Outreach International. He has taken a look at the Old Testament’s book of Proverbs, and that is what I and my listeners are doing. We’re considering the value of Wisdom and the ways of the godly, as well as the foolish ways of the wicked, remembering that following God’s wise advice leads to life.

Please join me in prayer:

Our wise and loving Father God, we are amazed and blessed by the depth of your perfect wisdom, displayed at creation as you formed the heavens and the earth. Each revelation of the work of your hands through a telescope or a microscope amazes us. And just as all of nature serves you, “as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish…so your Word that goes out from your mouth will not return to you empty, but will accomplish what you desire and achieve the purpose for which you sent it.”

Thank you for equipping King Solomon with wisdom to be spread like seed throughout the world. We praise you for the preservation of the book of Proverbs, full of timeless wisdom and instruction. Lord, it is all too easy for us to rely on our own understanding, and that is all we have unless we turn to you and seek your Wisdom! Help us keep our minds on your Truth and keep out feet on the path that leads to holiness.

In these days, may we value what is eternal, be grateful for your provision of daily needs, and use what you have given us, whether material things or spiritual gifts, for your purposes, shining light and bringing hope to the world around us.

Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Blessed is the one

who does not walk in step with the wicked

or stand in the way that sinners take

or sit in the company of mockers,

but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,

and who meditates on his law day and night

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,

which yields its fruit in season

and whose leaf does not wither—

whatever they do prospers.
